THE BASICS
NAME: Lady Arafel Kweydos
CANON: Original
PLAYED BY: Illyana Glaine, The Beast Tamed by the Villainess
AGE: Mid 20s
DOB: December 21st
HEIGHT / WEIGHT: 5'6"
OCCUPATION: Shadow scribe, youngest daughter of House Kweydos.
PERSONALITY:
Like most shadow scribes Arafel is considered both a curse and a blessing. The blessing is entirely in political power and monetary gain while the curse? Oh it is massive, at least if you hear people talk. In reality there is nothing very different between light magic and shadow magic save for light magic being thought of as better in part due to the long history of exceptional light magic users. Never mind shadow magic users rarely have the chance to reach their full potentials.
When Arafel demonstrated her abilities as a child she was immediately sent off to the spare house on the Kweydos Estate. There she studied shadow magic until she was proficient enough at curses, hexes and written spells and then she was forbid from further study. Following this Arafel's key function for the family was to supply them with these curses, hexes and such chiefly on commission from a noble. A shadow magic users pieces can go for extraordinary sums of money, the only thing compared to that being the bridal / groom prices they can fetch in arranged marriages. Everyone wants a shadow magic user in their family but they certainly don't want to acknowledge them.
Arafel has had her fair share of lessons on etiquette and social interaction. She has no real trouble interacting with others despite being largely secluded to her home on the Kweydos Estate. Many will find her calmness and generally quiet, benign attitude either off putting or boring. Everything she does from the way she talks to her mannerisms all seem to be quiet, gentle and above all calm. She has a wealth of experience in burying her emotions deep down and not expressing them at all if she can.
She's equally extraordinarily intelligent however. In general the Kweydos family had no problems with her studying anything but more shadow magic -- significant skill in that area was looked on with fear. Having much time on her hands Arafel has devoted herself to the study of alchemy, potion making, herbology and of course monsters. Monsters seem to be her particular favorite subject and she can list many of the parts of a monster that can be used for reagents in multiple things.
Now and then Arafel does show brighter shades of emotions. Her eyes can gleam with excitement over discussing her favorite topics and she loves to hear stories about other areas of the Kingdom and outside of it. She's never traveled herself of course but she seems to long to do so, almost as much as she longs for friends and affection. She's more than a little touch-starved and while she wouldn't know what a praise kink is she certainly enjoys being praised.
ABILITIES & HISTORY:
To be fleshed out as I go. For now:
* Primarily uses shadow magic.
* Particularly known for being able to imbue written text with her magic. Anything from healing spells to curses -- mostly known for the curses of course.
* Arafel loves to study and is particularly fond of learning about alchemy, herbology and monsters.
* The Kweydos family is well known for both it's light and shadow magic users. In general they like most in the kingdom show preference for the light magic users and while they don't reject the shadow users they aren't given near the prestige and intricate training. It's said often the Kweydos family marries off their dark magic users to more powerful families to be used for curses and other back room nefarious things, neglecting the more positive aspects of dark magic. It's a history of users who aren't used to their full potentials.

APPEARANCE
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
AURAL:
A gentle mid-ranged voice, more alto than soprano. Maybe with a light indistinguishable accent.
DEMEANOUR:
In general Arafel is very cool, calm and collected. She has an air of royalty around her despite her family being nobility and decidedly not royalty. Some of her dark magic ancestors have been the second and third wives of kings but never the first.
OLFACTORY:
Deep and dark -- musks and floral scents favoring orchids and jasmine. Arafel is very attentive to her hair.
VISUAL:
Stands 5'6" with a lean figure. Her hips aren't quite wide enough to be an hourglass but she's shapely with a full bust.
